Allegedly, Francesca's portion was the first to be sold to developers, while the southwest corner (owned by the Pelanconi side of the family) was the last portion to be sold to developers in the 1920s. Yes, the name Shatto's all over the place, including the cemetery in Hollywood. And they were such big donors too. There are still some splendid homes left just to the south of the Blvd., near downtown, er well not in such good shape though. The Wilshire Boulevard/ K-Town area is my hood; I lived in the Gaylord for five years and still live in the neighborhood and like to revisit the HMS Bounty occasionally. I hope to walk at least some of the CicLAvia route this time, so perhaps I'll see you.
